DANCES WITH DOGS CLUB QUEENSLAND CITATION FOR AWARD OF LIFE MEMBERSHIP – BARBARA MURFET
This nomination for the award of Life Membership of the DWD Club (DWDCQ) is made to recognise the outstanding contribution of Barbara Murfet to the sports of Dances with Dogs and Trick Dogs and to the operation of the Club from its inception in 2009 through to the current time.
Barbara was the foundation Chair of the ANKC National Dances with Dogs Committee and, as such, was responsible for providing leadership for the initiation of DWD as an official ANKC sport effective from January 2009 as well as for the subsequent 2 year and 5 yearly reviews and, from 2020, the introduction of the sport of Trick Dogs.
Barbara was a foundation member of the DWD Club, providing guidance when it was established in 2009, and actively contributing to the Club since that time. She has continuously served as a member of the Management Committee, including as Secretary of the Club for a number of years. She is also a DWD and Trick Dog judge (as well as judge in Obedience, Rally, Agility, Jumping and Games).
Barbara is a Director and Senior Vice-President of Dogs Queensland and Chair of the Queensland Dog Sports Committee, to which the Dogs Queensland Dances with Dogs and Trick Dog Test Sub-Committee reports; she has also been a member of that Sub-Committee since its inception in 2008.
Barbara’s knowledge of the operations and requirements of Dogs Queensland and the ANKC have been invaluable to the Club. She has provided DWDCQ with guidance and shared her experience and wisdom as the Club has negotiated its way through various circumstances and has developed its own policies and processes. She is very active in promoting DWD, Trick Dog and DWDCQ not only within Queensland but also across Australia and internationally.
Barbara has made an outstanding contribution against all the criteria, as well as in her State and national leadership roles, developing and promoting both sports. She clearly meets the eligibility criteria for the award of Life Membership of the Club.
Your hard work and dedication to the sport of Dances ith Dogs has certainly made our sport better.
