DWD at the Ekka....

In 2006, Coral Pethers and her German Shepherd, Kasha introduced the new Dances with Dogs sport to the general public by performing a routine in the dog pavilion during the lunch break in the conformation program.
They followed up in 2007 by doing a demonstration at the media launch just prior to the opening of the Ekka and continued to perform demonstrations during the Ekka.  In 2008, Coral organised the first Dances with Dogs competition. Although DWD was not yet sanctioned as an official sport by the Australian National Kennel Association, the competition was embraced by the audience and DWD has been a popular event at the Ekka ever since.
